"Got a Sweet Toot Craving? Come get some free treats and hear what can truly satisfy all your desires"
was the tagline of our Evangelistic outreach yesterday. We spent the morning handing out fun-size candy bars stapled to a 4 Spiritual Laws tract and info about our meeting later that day. Within 30 minutes of stepping foot on Houston Community College-Stafford we had given away all of our candy and spent some concentrated time praying for the meeting later that day.
Since the meeting wasn't happening for another hour we split up and did some evangelistic surveys with students on campus. My director, Dave, and I spoke with one guy for awhile who shared that he had been in a gang, but had recently redicated his life to Christ. When Dave asked this student the last question on the survey (If you were to die today and stand before God in Heaven and He should ask you why should I let you in, what would you say?) this student couldn't answer and even started crying a bit. The brokenness in his life was evident and we were able to reassure him that since he had placed his faith in Christ, he could be 100% sure that he was going to Heaven.
After talking with this student Dave and I went over to do another survey with two girls and while both of them shared that they had grown up in Church, neither of them knew how to have a relationship with Jesus. So I began to share the 4-Laws booklet with them as well. Half way into sharing that booklet with them, their friend walked up and asked what was going on. He was interested in God so i just quickly filled him in and kept going. It turned out that he had received some of the candy earlier and already had a copy of the 4-Laws in his pocket! After having shared all about how they could receive Christ and that it is by grace they have been saved through faith alone, all 3 of these students indicated that they would like to place their faith in Jesus! I don't know for sure if they did because we didn't all pray together, but I am trusting that if they were sincere in sharing with me that they wanted to receive Christ, that they will.
After these 2 conversations we went back inside for our meeting. 8 students showed up, ate the pizza and desserts we provided and heard more about Jesus- who can truly satisfy all our desires. They also had a chance to get connected with a Bible study that will be started on that campus shortly. I am always amazed at how God prepares people to hear about Him, and uses me to be a part of that process.
Please join me in praying that several Bible studies will be started at HCC-Stafford this fall and that I will be able to follow up with the students who indicated interest in trusting Christ.

Pictures: Windows to our Souls
For the past few weeks I have used a new evangelistic survey on campus--Soularium. It is 5o stock photos of all kinds of things along with some questions asking students to pick images that describe their life, what they wish was true about their life, that describe their view of God and spirituality. I've found that students are much more willing to share about their lives using these pictures as they evoke emotions instead of just sharing a specific answer. One girl opened up to me about just finding out she's pregnant, another about how she feels all alone and we had just met! In the past 2 weeks, God has allowed me to see 2 more students trust Christ after using the Soularium tool as an intro to sharing my faith. Check out student's results and see the pictures online (and a few are posted below) at http://www.mysoularium.com/

Please pray for these two students to grow in their new walk with God- both attend University of Houston-Downtown.Tuesday, October 2, 2007
Fall in Texas
So its October 2nd, my calendar says that it is now Autumn or Fall or that season where the leaves are supposed to change to pretty orange and yellow... I think Houston forgot about fall because its 86 degress outside, beautiful, and sunny. Don't get me wrong- i enjoy beautiful sunny days, but It's October and I'm still wearing shorts and flipflops to campus??? I'd like to pull out my cute fall sweaters and heels and see a few trees change colors. I think I had a real Fall once - but I wasn't living in Texas- they have Fall over in Granada, Spain. Maybe we get a few weeks or maybe its that we don't really get Winter- we just get a delayed Fall that turns into Spring. So all that to say I'm having "season envy" of the northen part of the country this afternoon.
